Unique sculpture by Agata Agatowska in our garden

May 28, 2026

We are proud to announce that our Foundation has become a beneficiary of the prestigious program by the Center of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, titled “Sculpture in Public Space – 2026.” The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Our application earned high praise from the experts, securing the second-highest score out of 163 submitted proposals. Thanks to this grant, we will be able to purchase a cast of the sculpture titled “Ice Cream” by Agata Agatowska, an artist originally from Oświęcim.

After a few years of absence, the sculpture will return permanently to the green patio between the Jewish Museum and Café Bergson. The artwork combines motifs of transformation, transience, and dialogue with the past, perfectly reflecting our Foundation’s mission—anti-discrimination education that reshapes attitudes and builds empathy and openness. With its fairy-tale, futuristic form, the sculpture symbolizes social transformation, seamlessly aligning with the core work of our institution.

The artist’s work will be accessible to everyone, intertwining the tragic history of this site with a modern identity and contemporary Polish art. This project will not only enrich the public space of our town but will also be accessible free of charge to local residents and the tens of thousands of tourists visiting Oświęcim and our Museum.
