Traumaland. Online meeting with Professor Michał Bilewicz
November 27, 2025
How can we break free from the influence of historical trauma? Distrustful of the state and all institutions. Constantly complaining and dissatisfied. Filled with fears and anxieties. Yet, at the same time, ready for immense mobilization in times of crisis and eager to help others in need. Such are the residents of Traumaland.
Michał Bilewicz invites readers to delve into the social psychology of Poles. He shows that we are not unique. Like other historically traumatized nations, we have adapted to the challenging conditions our ancestors faced. But are we destined to keep recalling our difficult history? Is there a way out of this world of fears and hypersensitivity?
The book *Traumaland* not only helps us understand how history has shaped our everyday behaviors, fears, and obsessions. It also provides guidance on how not to be haunted by the ghosts of the past.
