“Ice Cream”

“A little dog lapping up a puddle into which a girl melts with her desire to eat ice cream” is a work about transience, transformation, and human desire.

The melting figure of the girl symbolizes the fleeting nature of desire and the fragility of contemporary human existence. The polished aluminum surface reflects its surroundings, blurring the boundaries between reality and imagination and giving the work a poetic and futuristic dimension.

The purchase of the sculpture cast was co-financed through the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko’s “Sculpture in Public Space – 2026” programme, funded by the budget of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Agata Agatowska (born in 1976 in Oświęcim) is a sculptor and professor at the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in Germany.

She has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Her work has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix at the “Rybie Oko 5” Biennale of Young Art in Słupsk and the “Darmstädter Sezession” award in Darmstadt, Germany.

In her sculptures, she combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary forms, reflecting on the condition of modern humanity.

The event is co-financed by the City of Oświęcim and held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Oświęcim, Janusz Chwierut.
